What does executive coaching give you?
Executive coaching focuses on your current issues and needs, to
give you individualised support and development
- greater effectiveness
- improved communication skills
- clearer leadership impact
- better team leadership
What does it involve?
The first thing is to find a coach
who is right for your needs.
A coaching relationship can last from three months to a year, with meetings at intervals of 2-6
weeks. Sessions are typically 1-2 hours, or an hour for telephone
coaching. The duration and pacing depend on the focus of the
coaching. Your initial meeting is about clarifying
goals and issues, and agreeing a way of working. It is an
opportunity to check on chemistry, and confirm that you have made
the right choice of coach.
You can expect to take the first steps in receiving productive
coaching at this first meeting. Even if you decide to proceed no
further with that coach, you can expect your view of yourself to
have evolved a little, and that issues are clearer. Most people decide to
proceed after their first coaching meeting. The basis for future
sessions is the 'coaching contract': the goals and way of working
agreed with the coach. This helps keep coaching focused and
productive. It can of course be adjusted as the relationship
develops
and your needs evolve.
